It’s been called “the sandwich generation.” People who may have put off having children to first establish their careers are caught in a squeeze: raising young children while starting to face the worries of caring for aging, ailing parents. Imagine the peace of mind a “sandwich generation” woman would have if she knew her elderly parents had a compassionate and reliable caregiver ... someone to take them to doctors’ appointments, shop for their groceries, do their laundry and prepare their meals. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone could run their errands and take care of their non-medical needs? Someone to provide the services that just might make it possible for seniors to remain in their own home.
Rejoice! A new business, offering just those services, has opened in Canton, Massachusetts. Home Helpers provides senior citizens with the extra help they need to manage their everyday life. The Home Helpers Home Assistance Program can be arranged to fit individual needs, from morning “perk-up” to evening “tuck-in,” plus a variety of services in between including round the clock assistance.
Home Helpers is flexible. A Home Helpers Caregiver can be available on an hourly, daily or weekly basis, day or night. Although senior citizens who are looking to remain independent in their own homes are ideal candidates for the services, Home Helpers also offers loving care to expecting/new mothers, and those recovering from a recent illness or injury. In fact, Home Helpers’ services can be tailored to meet anyone’s personal requirements.
All Home Helpers Caregivers are reliable professionals who have been thoroughly screened, background checked and formally oriented to each client’s specific needs. All Home Helpers Caregivers are employees, not subcontractors, and they are all bonded and insured.

The owner of the new local Home Helpers office is Judith Joseph. She holds a Master of Science degree in Management, and has held various home health care management positions. These positions helped to steer her in the direction of her passion, which is caring for people.
A few years ago, Judith’s mother had to undergo major surgery with multiple follow-up treatments. It was a trying time for the family. After Judith’s mother went home from the hospital the real nightmare began. Judith had the task of finding help/companion care for her. The task was time consuming and at times very dismaying. After finding someone and thinking everything was okay, there would be times when the caregiver would not show up and so Judith would have to take off from work in order to be there for her mother.
This was a wake up call, in that we take so many things for granted until they hit us in the face. We presume that if we take care of the “health” side of things, then everything else should be okay. But, the reality is, if one gets stricken, are family members and/or friends always able to cater to the person’s non-medical needs, considering that they too have their obligations?
